Hi there
Thank you for your letter. It sounds like what’s happening at school is really upsetting you and it’s really good that you’ve written to get some support. No-one has the right to be hitting you or pulling your hair and from what you’ve said what’s happening at school is definitely bullying.
It sounds like you’ve tried talking to your teachers and your parents about what is happening and maybe don’t feel like they’re taking you seriously. All schools have a responsibility to try and stop bullying where they know that it's happening and most schools have something called an Anti-Bullying Policy. This is like a set of rules about what teachers should do if they’re told about bullying.
I’m wondering whether you perhaps feel able to try talk to either your parents or teachers again about what’s happening and about how upset it’s making you feel. One idea might be to write down what’s happening and how it made you feel in a diary to then show to a teacher. This may give them more of an idea of how upset you’re feeling and might be easier for you than saying it to them.
There’s also some more advice about how to deal with bullying in Explore which you might like to take a look at and you can take a look at the message boards on the website where there are lots of threads about bullying. These are where young people have put up messages about their experience and others have given some advice about what you might be able to do.
You’re also welcome to talk to a ChildLine counsellor anytime about what’s going on and how you’re feeling, whether or not you feel able to talk to someone else again at this time. There are a several ways to talk to a ChildLine counsellor, the quickest ways are either by phoning on 0800 1111 (all calls are free and don’t show up on the bill) or by sign up for an account and use the 1-2-1 online chat (it works a bit like MSN messenger).
You’ve been really brave to write this letter and I know that everyone here at ChildLine would really like to support you in any way that we can.
Take care,
Sam
