Hi there,
Thanks for your letter explaining how you feel about the girl in your year who is getting bullied. It sounds like what is happening to her is upsetting you a lot. It can be very difficult seeing someone getting hurt and upset, especially when it seems like they don’t feel able to get any help for themselves. Ideally it would be best if the girl was able to talk to someone about it, like a teacher or an adult she trusts, so that she can get some help to get it stopped.
You could help her by talking about it with her and encouraging her to tell someone, perhaps accompanying her if she agrees to talk to a teacher.
You could also encourage her to contact ChildLine either by free phone 0800 1111, 1-2-1 chat or by sending an email. What she talks about will be confidential unless she tells them something that makes them think her life is in immediate danger.
You might like to have a look at the Explore section of the ChildLine website where there is information on bullying, and the ChildLine message boards where you can read how other young people have overcome bullying.
It might be that the girl feels unable to do anything and in this case you may have to think about telling someone on her behalf. I want you to know that before you do that you could contact ChildLine to talk about how you might do this. It can be difficult supporting someone else through a problem. ChildLine are there both for you and the girl if you want to talk.
Take Care,
Sam
