Hi there
Thank you for your letter. It sounds like things are really hard for you at the moment. You say you’re really depressed about your situation at school and people pick on you.
People should not be picking on you. I’m wondering whether this is something you’ve spoken to anyone else about, maybe an adult that you trust? Your school has a duty to protect you from being bullied and all schools should have an anti-bullying policy. An anti-bullying policy is a set of rules which tells a school what they should do if someone is being bullied and how they should help people.
I’m concerned to hear that you’re self-harming and have been asking yourself whether it would be better if you weren’t even alive. You say your friend stopped you from cutting your wrists with a knife, it sounds like your friend cares about you. You’ve not said what sort of self-harm you are doing but if you are ever worried after hurting yourself and feel you need any medical help, the quickest way to get this is by calling 999.
I think you’ve done really well in asking for help and ChildLine would really like to support you. If you’d like to talk more about what’s happening for you, you are very welcome to contact ChildLine either using the 1-2-1 online chat service or by phone on 0800 1111, where you can talk to a counsellor about all these things that are going on for you. You may also find it helpful to take a look at the message boards on the ChildLine website where there are both sections on bullying and self-harm and you can see what things other young people have said about these things.
Take care
Sam
