Thanks for writing to me
I get many letters from young people about bullying.
Those that do the bullying often don't see the affect that it has on their victims. More often than not it is the bullies themselves that have real issues going on in their lives. Bullies will often behave like this because they are unhappy about an aspect of their own lives. However, this is not an excuse for them to bully others.
It's important to know that all schools and colleges must have an anti bullying policy and should act to stamp out this sort of behaviour. Do you have a good friend who is aware that this is happening to you? If so, it may be a good idea to speak with a teacher together. Schools have child protection teachers or officers who should be able to make time available for you. If you are not able to do this, could you tell your parent or carer or even a close adult in your life?
Perhaps you could keep a daily record about what is happening, so that you have a record of who is doing what to you. This way you can be clear about who the bullies are. The parents of these young people need to know what they are doing too.
Take a look at Beatbullying, a website that provides information and help for victims of bullying. You may also want to think about getting some help and information about bullying from the ChildLine Explore section or come and talk with a counsellor. You can do this by phoning 0800 1111 or login and having an online 1-2-1chat.
Take care
