Sexual identity
Part of your sexual identity might involve working out if you are attracted to boys, girls, or both. It is normal for young people to become aware of their emotional and sexual feelings at different times.
Heterosexual people are emotionally and physically attracted to people of the opposite sex. Gay and lesbian people are emotionally and physically attracted to people of the same sex, and bisexual people are attracted to both sexes.
Being transgender is when a person feels like they are trapped in the body of the wrong gender - so a boy could feel that he is actually a girl trapped in a boy's body, and a girl can feel she is a boy trapped in a girl's body.
You can always speak to ChildLine about your sexual or gender identity - our counsellors are always there to support you. You could also post a message on the Sexuality or Gender Identity message board.
